From 2014 to 2016, 24 local high school students participated in cutting-edge engineering research and education related to Photo Origami through the National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded EFRI REM (Research Experience and Mentoring) program. Each summer, the cohort of summer researchers completed a 6-week summer program, exploring EFRI Photo Origami research on the CU Boulder campus, meeting with CU engineers and scientists, and working in teams to complete an engineering research project.
CU Boulder’s EFRI-REM summer research program involved students from Skyline (St. Vrain Valley School District), Centaurus (Boulder Valley School District) and Northglenn (Adams 12 School District) High Schools.
Due to the conclusion of the NSF EFRI-REM grant, this program is no longer being offered. Interested high school students may instead want to look at our STEM Research Experience, STEM Academies or Mountain Research Experience.
